Careline Cosmetics now better than basic

Today’s young woman is outspoken, confident, and knowledgeable. She strives to make a statement in everything she does – from social media updates to the clothes she wears, and the cosmetics she uses. With this in mind, Careline has shifted to a bolder and trendier brand image.

“The youths are the main inspiration for Careline’s new brand direction. They are confident in who they are, what they want, and how they want to express themselves,” said Careline brand manager Creole David.

Combining quirky and “everyday wearable,” the new image aims to appeal to everyone. It is both simple and striking with its new boldface logo and colorful packaging. Upcoming products will match the new bold attitude.

“We offer products that are a little different from the usual drugstore make-up brands. They are Better than Basic,” explained David. “And they are very wearable!”

Careline Go! Mascara

Some of these new products are Go! Mascara in two variants – The Go! Long Mascara to make lashes look long and wispy and the Go! Big Mascara, which has a special brush that packs on product to make lashes extra voluminous; Careline Best Brow Pencil, a retractable brow pencil and spoolie that brushes and tames the brows; and Careline Graph Ink Liner, which has a long flexible felt tip to make lining the eyes quicker.
Careline Multi Sticks

Another product to look forward to is the Careline Multi Sticks, a multipurpose make-up collection that comes in six pieces: Contour Stick, a universal contour that also doubles as an eyeshadow color; Brighten Stick, a yellow-toned brightening concealer that can be used as an eyeshadow primer; Strobe Stick, a metallic  highlighter for the décolletage and shoulders that also looks great as a metallic eyeshadow; Blur Stick, a pore-filling primer that works well alone or under foundation; and Rose and Peach Sticks, multi-use tints that do wonders for the eyes, cheeks and lips.

Careline Matte Liquid Lipsticks

Careline has also upgraded its lipstick line. New collections available in the market include the Matte Liquid Lipstick that comes in rich hues like Upper Hand in deep burgundy, Craving in true brown and Dark Matter in a deep, almost black shade. For the adventurous, Careline offers the Melted Metallic Lipstick with a matte metallic finish. It comes in champagne gold Luster, metallic red Live Wire, and metallic purple Prince.

To spread its Better than Basic message, Careline launched the Girl Gang, led by teen star and endorser Andrea Brillantes. Joining her are Alyana Chapman, Azusa Masu, Megu Demetrio and Regine Lacanienta, the brand’s online model search discoveries. They embody the fun but empowering message Careline wants to share with its youthful market through a short digital film that can be viewed on www.instagram.com/p/BX5Gp_MFju0/ and www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqOi_NzopQM.

With its shift in attitude and a bolder, trendier brand image, teens and make-up fanatics can definitely make a statement with Careline.

Makeup Little Tips and Tricks

If you are as busy as a bee, and don't have extra time for vanity and glamour, then these little secrets will help you save time and still look and feel fab!

#Smelling good gives an impression of cleanliness and studies shows that it tends to make people respect you.

How to Have Longer Lasting Scent: Match your lotion with perfume! Scented spray layered with similar scented lotion will keep you fragrant all day long (the first thing that comes in my mind is the Avon matching lotion, body talc, deo and body spray). Don't forget to put your fragrance perfume on a travel size container so you could spray on anytime anywhere!

*Check out Travalo (one item on my travel wishlist) for a fun way to make your perfume travel-friendly! But if you are looking for a more cheaper way to smell good all the time, then Watson's travel size bottle pumps should be your friends!

pumps
These are my cutie patootie travel bottles and pumps. Especially important if you will travel by air because only small  bottles are allowed on the plane! :) perfect for lotion, moisturizer, perfume and hand sanitizer! :)

#Oilyness is next to ugliness!

How to Stay Oil-Free: After applying foundation, dust loose powder on your t-zone area (forehead, nose and chin) for added staying power and shine-free makeup, don't forget to put blotting papers on your purse for touch up

*Check out my kawaii blotting paper bought from Market! Market! department store beauty section!

gerilen

For a cheaper blotting paper, you could use  Starbucks tissues or any hard-like-paper tissue, cut them to your desired shape (rectangular or circular, go do hearts if your artistic enough lol) then keep them in your already-empty pressed powder compact (I prefer to store mine in a compacted mirror just for good measure!), will post about that soon so stay tuned!

Empties May 2013

One of my favorite blog posts from my everyday reads are Empties. So, after several contemplations, I decided to jump in too and make posts about my empties - not necessarily be posted every month but- it gives a sense of satisfaction knowing that you used up a product "to the last drop" :) and to avoid redundancy,  will just show the products that didn't make it yet to this category.
So here are our empties for the month of May 2013...
empties
1) Off! Lotion for Adults - used this a lot during our holiday trips usually every night just to add extra protection against disease carrying mosquitoes and other insect creepers of the night!

2) Johnsons Baby Powder in Cooling Powder - every one of us loved using this after bath especially at night, to keep our body cool so sweat won't interrupt a good night sleep.  If you follow me here, then you'll realize it's one big bottle of Johnsons baby powder down! Hurray!

3) L'oreal Paris Smooth Intense Shampoo - loved the smell, the texture and the everyday instant result I get from this shampoo! Just pure love especially this summer season!
Provide rebellious hair with nutrition and protection for an intense smoothing.Smooth Intense combines Nutrileum with Silk Protein, known for its smoothness and thermo-resistance, to deliver intense nutrition and 48-hour protection.Hair is nourished and soothed from root to top, for an easy and consistent smoothness and is protected against the effect of humid or dry conditions*.
4)Nivea Visage Sparkling White - Whitening Cleansing Foam - I enjoyed this product very much but I still prefer and will go back to my first love - Garnier Brightening Oil Control Scrub, I just miss the visible grains.
  • Cleans into pores to remove dirt and oil.
  • Acne reduction Technology helps prevent acne.
  • Skin Nutrient Formula helps lighten dark spots and blemishes.
  • Minimizes appearance of pores.
  • Smoothes skin without dry feeling.
5) Imari Seduction Perfumed Skin Softener and 6) Imari Seduction Deodorant- this is my signature scent when I was pregnant and this just makes me nostalgic and I think babe also learn to know this smell... :)

7) Milea Bath Baby Cleaner - my savior! this is the first empty of my last Sesou haul for baby Jerson Clyde. Generally used it on his bum for easy squeezy clean after poop!

8)Venus and Mars Smooch Lip Butter Balm- one of my first product posts and now it's gone! I missed the minty fresh feel after applying this goodie balm but not sure, if I'll buy again because first, I'm not sure if they're still selling this line and second, I have lots of lip balm to consume first!
Aside from these, I have a lot of sachets of samples and gifts used and still in the process of consumption, but I decided not to put them here or else this post would take a gazillion years to end!
That's it for my first empties post! Yay for absolute zero waste (because we practice segregation and recycling in our home - save Mother Earth!)! :P
xoxo,
Gerilen

This serum has intense regenerating care system with 30 kinds of precious oils! Just the right product to splurge when it comes in fighting dry skin, slowing down skin ageing and avoiding premature wrinkles.

I love the instant smooth effect it gives my skin even while applying the littlest amount I could squeeze (because I don't want to be overwhelmed - I'm naturally oily) . And since my mom has dry skin, I think I'll share it with her.

Have you tried Yves Rocher Riche Creme?

Stiefil's SpectraBAN 60

I was too skeptical to wear sunblock before, because first, it takes extra time to apply. Second, it feels super thick it makes my skin feel extra greasy during summer and extra hot as I feel the "film" blocking my skin, unable to breathe! Okay, so maybe I was overreacting so scratch the last part. :P But after beating myself up and convincing I had to, and tried EverBilena's Body and Face Sunblock and two others, now, I am on the hunt for new sunblocks to try out there most especially now that he sun IS scorching hot! But don't get me wrong, we still need sunblock even when it's cloudy and raining!

Moving on, I got myself some free stuff from a mommy-baby event, thanks to our friendly Physiogel Booth friends! :D
Now, here is what Spectraban looks like...

Shiseido MakeUp Session with BlessMyBag - What We Learned

It is not a whole week workshop or a month seminar, it is just an afternoon (2hours) of makeup demonstrated in front of us while giving makeup tips and tricks and as a makeup newbie and enthusiast, I learned a lot!

DSC_1143

Cutting the chase, I'll share to you the mental notes I had during our Shiseido MAkeup Class with Ms. Julia of BlessMyBag when you're doing make up!

1)if you want to contour your nose during daytime, skip the "shadow" and focus on the highlight; that way you'll avoid looking like dirty mess. Of course you should blend the edges gently.

2)when choosing foundation, try to get the color close to your pulse; where you put your perfume to last - so you'll match your face to the color of your neck rather than the other way around, less foundation stain on the collar of your blouse or uniform ;)

3)liquid to liquid, powder to powder- to avoid blotches on the cheeks -liquid foundation to cream blush, powder foundation to baked blush. Breaking this rule is easy, just make sure to set your liquid foundation with powder first before applying powder blush.

4)Eyebrows can make the difference! Fill in the brows to make a person look younger and thin lines gives the opposite effect.

5)Another tip about doing the brows is - if you want your eyebrows to last longer, use an eyebrow pencil instead of powder.

6)If you are having a hard time with eyeliner on your tear ducts or you just don't want to deal with that nasty morning-glory-like in your eyes in the color of your eyeliner then end the line just before your tear ducts. Bonus - since you'll not have black liner in your inner corners, it'll pop your eyes = fresh looking! :)

Any other makeup tips and tricks you wanna share? Comment down below! :D

Nichido Travel Brush Set

Good quality doesn't always mean expensive! That is what I believe and I already have proven this for  a couple of times now. :) As you can tell on of my favorite drugstore brand is Nichido, I already had some several posts regarding their products - Finishing Powder and Eyebrow Palette. Now that I am collecting makeup brushes and is always on the go - travel and site inspections - I would not pass trying out their own, so I decided to get this Nichido Travel Brush Set in faux leather case and the Nichido Travel Makeup Brush Kit in plastic case that I'll be posting soon (when I get extra time again to blog :P).
This is what it looks like:
nichido
Nichido Travel Brush Set (Php 270.00)

It is so cute, handy, classic. It's good that its case is black. Each brushes are in separate sturdy pouches and is individually wrapped in plastic and the clip button is magnetic.
Here are the brushes included in the set.

My favorite brush - which is the real reason why I say yes to this set -
Flat Angled Brush
perfect for defining the eyebrows and for applying gel liner! :D

Eyeshadow Brush

I love that I don't see the sponge tip brush in this set that I usually see on some local travel brush set. Every brush is uniquely for different uses, not redundant. :) I just wish that all their Nichido Travel Brush Set in faux leather case have the same brushes inside because... watch out for my Nichido Travel Makeup Brush Kit in plastic case. #hint

If you are planning to get this, you might as well check it out and open the set first just in case. :) More brushes coming up! For the mean time, share your favorite local brands of make up brushes below!

Nichido Eyebrow Liner Duo Kit

This is my second try of an eyebrow palette. My first try was 4U2 Eyebrow Palette that I will be posting soon. :P And if you are asking me why? Well, maybe because, I prefer using this palette instead of the former. :)

I love the sleek packaging! <3
Picture2 1489

Here is what it looks like...
Picture2 1491it's totally girly! :P

This duo kit contains two shades in the colors coffee brown and black. Best for Filipina eyebrows. :)
Picture2 632
This is a huge pan containing a lot of products! I bet this will last me a year or so. :)

This can also be applied as an eyeliner. Apply it dry for a natural look or wet the brush for a more dramatic eyebrows. :)
BRUSHThis palette also contains 1 tiny little eyebrow brush and a mini little tweezer that I don't use. :3

For Php240.00 this is oh so worth it. :) Here are the swatches!

Like I said, I prefer this frm my 4U2 eyebrow palette but I'm not closing my doors for other eyebrow products like brow gels and the oldie-but-goodie brow pencils.

E.L.F. All Over Cover Sticks Concealers

These are my recent favorite concealers as of the moment, and these are the ELF All Over Cover Sticks Concealers in shades of
elf1
Light Beige, Honey and Apricot Beige

elf2
I'm running out of Honey because obviously it blends well with my skintone :)

elf3
I love packing this up on my dark under-eye circles and like I said it matches my skin tone perfectly. It's super smooth that it glides when applied. Last me the whole day without touching up yet its so easy to take off just with wipes.
I think the price is just right too. I can use this product for maybe 3 months or so. :) Another empty coming my way! Yay! (IDK, but I'm happy whenever I used up a product, maybe because the money paid was well used and worth it)
What are your take on this kind of ELF concealers?

POND'S Flawless White Deep Whitening Facial Foam

As you could see on my previous post here about Clean and Clear here, Garnier here and Pond's Clear Solutions there, I am still in search for facial wash, scrubs and foam to try out and see what it would do on my skin.

Look who's running out of her paboritong (favorite) scrub?

I love the fresh clean scent after wash. It really penetrates deep down, removing stubborn dirt, traces of makeup and oil! :D Really does makes my skin look brighter and fairer after wash with no dry feeling! :) I just love love love this and I think will repurchase after I used up other scrubs and facial washes on my hands right now! :P
Do you love this pink Pond's too?

Up next, my Nivea Whitening Scrub!

Short Time: 3 Basic Make Up Rules

Today I will share rules I used to break, still break during my lazy days. :) I know a lot of people are guilty of these but it's never too late to change, right? :)

#1 - don't sleep with make up on
- my top 1 violation! :P remove make up and wash face, but during lazy days, what I do is, I use make up remover and wet wipes, if there is no make up remover everywhere, I use my good ole' lotion or facial moisturizer

#2 - let your face breathe
- best reason not to put make up on my busy days. I'm good with sunscreen, colored lip balm and brows!

#3 - drink water!
- if you are a breastfeeding mom, water is your best friend. if you love painting faces, water is your best friend and guess what? I'm both! :D
If you break them all and worse comes to worst, just smile. A genuine smile is still the best feature a woman could ever have.

Sesou Haul - All About Hair!

One of my major problems aside from my oily skin is my hair. Although I'm dandruff -free, it is as oily as an oil factory I can't live a day without washing it and yes, I recently have mild hair loss which means that my naturally thin hair is getting thinner. Oh my!

I decided to give my hair my full attention and show some organic all natural love! :D Here are the things I picked up for my hair at  Sesou!

OL'EO Hair Regrowth Treatment Shampoo
ol'eo

Craving for Vanilla in a healthy way - that is how I describe my obsession with this gourmet skin care hair and body mist!

Vanilla & Co. Hair and Body Mist
vanilla

I just love to lick and smell this yummy vanilla-watermelon bottle! Got mine for only Php235.00! This a cologne with a twist, it has aloe vera extract good for hair moisturization while leaving a hint of scent. What I do, specially when I'm out and about is that, I wash my hands first, or if not available, I use alcohol, hand sanitizer and then spray this on my clean fresh hands. :) One word: Yummy!

hair mask

My hair felt like it was fresh from salon - soft, smooth, shiny hair in a 30minute home magic! :D

Human Heart Nature Sunflower Beauty Oil

ELIZABETH: Ever bilena BB Cream, IN2IT Eyebrow Palette, Ever bilena Eyeshadow Trios

Hey guys! How are you? I just wanna share to you one of my make up routine! So, this is me when I'm not wearing any make up...

Presenting to you the Ever Bilena Advance BB Cream... A whitening, foundation and moisturizing cream all rolled into one! This product provides a flawless coverage while concealing blemishes and dark spots and protecting it from the harmful rays of the sun. And with the help of its potent moisturizer such as Shea Butter and Vitamin E, it richly moisturizes our skin to make it soft and smooth!

Ever Bilena: Face Sunblock, Body Sunblock and BB Cream

Finally, I kicked myself in the butt hard enough to get me some sunblock goodies from Bello, SpectraBAN60 of Steifel and Ever Bilena. Obviously in this post Ill be sharing about the latter, its EB face and body sunblock! Local cheaper brands doesn't mean not worth trying, sometimes a gem is camouflaging in the sea of pebbles. Gee, I suck!

eee
Cut to the chase, the face and body sunblock from Ever Bilena have almost the same exact ingredients, only cyclomethicone is present on the face cream while cetearyl alcohol is included on the body cream

eee1
aside from that both products contains Vitamin E, shea butter and licorice extract that helps lighten and brighten skin.

eee2

The only downside of these are that they are not paraben free, methyl paraben and propyl paraben are included inside and it leaves white streaks on the skin if not blended well. So make sure to use small amount and just add if you feel needed, and avoid squeezing alot at once. you get the gist.

Aside from sunblock, it also helps prevent my skin from drying because of the shea butter...
I was looking for Myra-E tinted moisturizer when I saw this...

eee3

I can't believe it at first, but why not. I wanna save time hence I'm on the hunt for the 2-1 moisturizer and foundation from Myra-E, and it's always out of stock... To end my dilemma, I just pick this up and pay it on the counter. Besides, it has the same Oriental shade from my favorite drugstore liquid foundation.

Ever Bilena BB Cream comes in two packages. The pink BB Cream and the purple one. I'm opting for the pink one because it has anti aging but doubt because the shade is far of my own.

This BB Cream is a whitening, moisturizer and foundation packed in one bottle. Saves time when you are on the move. And I think this is good for everyday use. :) Perfect matched with my Nichido Final Powder!
In the end, i just wish I picked up the pink one because im really not into whitening and would rather give my skin some anti ageing love.

Should I get the pink tube too?

ELIZABETH: DIY Lip Palette

Hey everyone! How's your Wednesdays? Mine is so-so. I woke up late and rushed to get my morning routine done! Yay for me! cause I've done my things to do just after my 12 pm strucked.

Meaning, I have time to blog! And now I will be showing you how I carry all my lipstick without hassle!
How I came up to this is because whenever I travel or go out, I encounter the same problem; how to fit all my lipsticks in my small purse. You can buy a ready made lip palette but I decided to create my own so that I could carry my all time favorites! I could choose the colors from nude to reds and lastly I could recycle and help mother nature. Another yay for me! Hahaha! :D Lets get started!

We'll be needing an empty compact face powder,or if you have any eye shadow palette, you can also use that..But for me,I will be using an empty compact face powder from Avon.

We also need some tissue, spoon, candle, pusher and a lighter or a match.

And of course our lipsticks..
One of my favorite lipstick here is from Avon which is Amour Rose. I lost the cap during our driving lesson with my sis! So, as you can see the middle lipstick doesn't have a cap on it.

First step is to scrape all the lipstick using the pusher and put it on the spoon...
TIP: If you wanna used up all of the product left inside the tube, use a lip brush to scrape it off.

Allow your lipstick to melt slowly, you can also stir it using the pusher..

You can now pour it to your empty compact face powder.. If you are planning to put several lip color, be careful not to stain the entire pan and slowly pour to avoid burnt fingers.

Just repeat all the steps until you are finished..

you could use your nail pusher or a toothpick to align the edges of your palette.

(Check out my nail tutorial here!)

Like I said, making your own lip palette is easy, cheaper, saves space, you could customize the colors, the amount of product you will put, the design and lastly you could put in an empty compact powder, or empty gel liner tube. :)

It's exciting to make too! Just be careful not to burn your fingers or your house! For that matter... If you know you can't do it alone, ask help of your parents or guardian for extra safety! :) Or maybe do it outside the house. :P You know.

Are you liking DIYs? I will be sharing another DIY soon! So stay tuned!

If you did try this, share your DIY lip palette on our facebook page and tag us!

live, love, laugh,
Beth :)
