Food Trip: Dexter's Bakeshop & Coffee Shop

One of the perks of freelancing - we get to bring the kids everywhere. One of our latest client's office is around Katipunan and we need a place to keep the toddlers cool from the afternoon sun. So before our meeting, we looked for a place to stay and this caught my toddler's eyes.

The huge cakes in the display window did it for him. Just in time for mom's craving for pasta!

Pumpkin Soup (Php120.00)
Dave finished half of his soup! Clyde loved the crunchy croutons, too.

Kwento: He opens the menu and pick this pasta with a photo in it. His order arrived and he checked to make sure his order (in the photo) is exactly like the one on his table. He also asked me to take two photos: of his order, and of himself with his order. I obliged!

Putanesca (Php150.00)
They do have a powder room. Staff are friendly and very accommodating. Aside from soups, salads, sandwiches and pasta, the menu has Pinoy Favorites like Special Palabok, Inihaw na Liempo, Inihaw na Pusit and Tanique Steak. All-Day Breakfast includes my all-time favorite Longganiza with rice and egg. The Tawilis with salted egg also looks scrumptious. Rice & Specialties includes Korean Beef Stew, Beef Teriyaki and Salpicao. They also offer special cakes, pastries, desserts and pies!
We can't wait to have another meeting with our clients and be back here, to our newest hangout to try for more!

Food Trip: The Watercress Salad - The Best of Baguio in a Bowl

Watercress is one of the veggies I learned to love when I was in Baguio. Most especially when I was pregnant, and now that I am again, I'm craving for some watercress stew.
Beef stew with watercress is the best hot-pot my mom used to cook for us, especially for me - I miss watercress' sweet delicate taste and I was amaze to see it on my favorite pizza parlor - Shakey's!
image
Crisp watercress and purple  lettuce, fresh strawberries, red radish, cherry tomatoes, with rich feta cheese and crushed candied walnuts, all tossed together with or house-made raspberry vinaigrette for an enticing starter.

Food Trip: Slappy Cakes

When we were in college, my ex-boyfriend used to order hot pancakes to bring to school - for me. Everyday, I got two pancakes filled with margarine and sugar dust for a full one-trisem (that's three months of six days each week). That ex-boyfriend is now the lucky father of my salsa monster.
...
Modern, authentic and functional - that is the concept of Slappy Cakes. I love the homey wood finish in the background, and those huge photographs? Adorbs!

Slappy cake buddies here.

How the Slappy Cakes works? Well, if you wanna prepare yourself before going to the slappy cake party then you have to continue reading as I stole the secret recipe, err, steps to get your cake slappy.

I will leave the sweet dilemma of cooking pancakes on your liking and head on to the next best thing the Slappy Cake could offer - the Rice Plates!
Tocino Tociyes (Php250.00) - pork or chicken tocino with garlic rice and two eggs cooked on your liking (boiled -soft, hard, half cooked, scrambled or sunny side up) served with Clyde's favorite - mango salsa! :D

Slappy Moco (Php290.00) -  Grilled hamburger patty with steamed rice, chopped mushrooms, two eggs of your liking and red pepper sauce and spinach sauce.

Say hello to my salsa monster date! lol Love you baby!

I love how huge the silverwares are! The tables are quite wide too. The cooking sesh may make you sweat especially if you're mastering the flip so it's a good thing that Slappy Cake is well ventilated with high ceiling! :D Yay!

This is my favorite out of all that Wendy's could offer.

The mushroom burger is good, but the salad... the macaroni salad is the best! Just the way I want it.

Food Trip: Taho Boy

Taho reminds me of my childhood. I used to run out of our house in Comembo whenever I hear Manong Taho's shouts echoing along our street. It reminds me of beautiful hot mornings, full of promises and sweats and sweets and play outdoors.
My 2months pregnant self during our trip to Bacolod. :)
Taho reminds me of my recent pregnancy. I used to shout back "dito! (here!)" and open the door to Mang Jason, our suki with my humongous cups for our original and sometimes strawberry flavored tahos. It reminds me of movie marathons, fog and rain, and hot gossips and whatnots during my stay in San Antonio.
Its been a year since my last cup and one recent afternoon, I crave for one. Called Papa and he returned with not just one but two tumblers of hot taho! :) can you imagine my excitement? I feel nostalgic and it seems like a déjà vu.
image
These cups are not the typical original arnibal or strawberry flavored tahos, these are high-end, these are almond flavored!
image
It's quite different to the taste as I'm not used on bland flavors of nuts in my cup - I'm used to rich sugary sweet - and of course, it's a good change. A good change I may say, as it's the healthier choice compare to chocolate or buko pandan, and it helps me realise that I'm doing a fitter choice when it comes to food.

Yummy!
Can't wait to create more memories!

Food Trip: Big City

gerilen 313
Big City serves hotdogs, sausages and burgers grilled to perfection complete with sauces and fries and a wall of world's tallest buildings

gerilen 314
The star of our table and my artistic way to dip my fries. :P
image
A swish of mayo, mustard and ketchup swirled together just like Picasso.
image
image
Yum! The burgers are big. The beef smells and tastes like real grilled angus - if you know what I mean. The wedge fries are crunchy on the outside, soft in the insides.
You could ask for a fork and knife or go all the way finger-licking-style, err, using a plastic glove. ;)

Nice Day Coffee in White

Today, I woke up at around 5am. My waking time’s 9 and waking up at around 5 means something is either ecstatically amazing or something is real wrong. Since I felt restless the moment I open my eyes, it means the latter; this day would be more than a typical bad hair day! What to do when you were supposed to be energetic and actually anticipate having fun because you were in a freaking vacation on the first place? (guess where here)
Undo the curse of waking-up-on-the-wrong-side-of-bed with
image
Nice Day Coffee in White
This sachet is a 5-in-1 coffee mix of coffee powder, non-dairy creamer, sucralose, collagen and glutathione.
gerilen 208
Nice Day Coffee in White is white not just because it has creamer in its mixture but because it contained glutathione that could help you have whiter fairer skin.
gerilen 211
L'Oreal Nails here
Surprisingly, this coffee is not sweet, unlike the other white coffee mixes out there. It’s sort of bitter – you could actually taste and smell the strong aroma of coffee.
gerilen 209
I like it. After having my morning cup of Nice Day Coffee, the bad blues begone and I'm ready to enjoy my finally-happening vacation with hubby and baby.
Can't wait to try the other variants! What's your favorite Nice Day Coffee?
Check Nice Day Coffee Facebook page here.
