This is your kids’ chance to star in their own TV show



Rebisco’s Topps Sarap is looking for the next batch of Toppstars! 


Is your child the next big TV star?

Topps Sarap, a favorite cupcake brand from Rebisco, is once again looking for a new breed of talented Filipino kids via the Topps Sarap Toppstar talent search.


Started in 2016, Topps Sarap Toppstar was created as a platform to discover young Filipino talents and celebrate the “topps” factor in each kid. Parents are encouraged to showcase their kids’ talents in singing, dancing, or acting by having them join the nationwide talent search.

Winners of the talent search receive the ultimate prize—a chance to audition for TOPPSTAR TV.

Airing weekends on GMA 7 and GMA News TV, each half-an-hour episode features performances from the kids, interviews with celebrity guests, unboxing videos, comedic bits, Pinoy games, and product reviews. Viewers also get a chance to join in on the fun through interactive activity bumpers.




Journey to stardom

The talent contest is open to all kids from anywhere in the Philippines, aged four to 10 years old. To join, parents or guardians must create a maximum 30-second video showing their child’s chosen talent. Videos must be uploaded on the entrant’s Facebook account and must tag or mention Topps Sarap.

Once video has been posted, the link of the post must be copied and included in the entry form, which can be downloaded here: http://www.toppstar2019.com/. Participants can submit another entry 24 hours after the first submission. The last submission received will be considered the final entry to be judged. A confirmation e-mail will be sent within two to three days of submission. Entries will be accepted until 11:59PM on March 31, 2019.

From all the valid entries, the top 50 will be chosen based on talent and performance (50%); star quality (45%); and online votes (5%).

An online voting will be held from April 5 to 7, 2019, 11:00 AM. A special award will be given to four entries with the highest number of votes, with one each from Luzon, Greater Manila Area, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The top 50 will undergo a talent workshop-audition which will determine the top 25 who will advance to the final stage. The top 25 will compete in the Grand Finals on May 5, 2019. The final 10 Topps Sarap Toppstar winners will be announced on this event.

Each winner will receive P50,000 in cash and will be featured in the Topps Sarap Facebook page. They will also participate in talent workshops and a chance to audition for TOPPSTAR TV’s next season.

Expert mentors help kids shine in Promil Four i-Shine Talent Camp 7



All kids are born with a gift. While it is often up to parents to discover their child's unique gift or talent, making sure this gift is nurtured and honed requires the guidance of an experienced mentor. Mentors play a vital role in developing a kid’s talent – they have the ability to bring a kid out of her shell, expose her to new experiences and polish her talent until she is ready to shine.

An artist who knew that she was born to dance is Georcelle Dapat-Sy, the brains behind the country’s premier dance company G-Force. She has mentored many young dancers, as well as countless artists. Teacher Georcelle, who believes that anyone can learn to dance, continues to share her knowledge and skills through mentoring kids in the i-Shine Talent Camp.

In the music industry, there’s no one like Ryan Cayabyab. Warmly known as Mr. C, Cayabyab has proven to be a true musical genius as he received the highest national honor for Filipino artists, the National Artist Award for Music. His gift and passion for music earned him several accolades as a composer, musical director, conductor, and accompanist.


Kids are in for a treat as visual artists Robert Alejandro and Kara Escay believe that those who love creating something out of nothing are truly gifted children because they learn how to see the world with wonder and imagination. Born into a family of artists, Alejandro is an accomplished journalist, TV show host, and designer for Papemelroti, a specialty shop that carries a wide array of gifts and decorative accessories owned by his family. He also enjoyed brief stints as a store and mall designer, book illustrator and package designer for various companies in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Escay is an Art Therapist who received her Fine Arts degree from the University of the Philippines. She is also the Co Founder & Head Teaching Artist at Masterpiece Movement, a creative, wholehearted and transformative multi-arts movement which goals to spark hearts, shift views and stretch ways of being through creativity and the multi-arts.

This season, i-Shine makes things more exciting for kids as it introduces two new camps: Theater and Ballet. With the newest additions, children can explore and discover their talents in the fields of acting and classical ballet!

To help bring out your kid’s talent in acting is veteran theater actor Audie Gemora. With a three-decade old career that has seen him playing all kinds of roles, Gemora has been lauded as the “King of Philippine Musical Theatre” and is known for his work on Bliss (2017), Batch '81 (1982), and Paglipad Ng Anghel (2011).


Lisa Macuja-Elizalde 


When it comes to classic ballet, Lisa Macuja-Elizalde is surely the person you’d want your kids to learn from. The prima ballerina started taking lessons at 8 years old and the first foreigner to join Russia’s Kirov Ballet and was the first artist-in-residence of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. In 1995, Macuja established her very own ballet company, Ballet Manila.

Sarah G. Finds A New Love!



This time, her brand-new passions lead her to the kitchen




Just when you thought Sarah Geronimo can do it all, she reveals that she has also learned how to cook. Speaking at the launch of Phoenix SUPER LPG, the Popstar Royalty shared that although it took her a while, she really wanted to learn how to whip up culinary hits in the kitchen.

"Ginusto ko po talagang matutong magluto. Parang ang sarap kasi sa pakiramdam na kaya mong ipagluto 'yung pamilya mo and mga friends mo (I really wanted to learn how to cook. It feels good to be able to cook for your family and friends)," shared Sarah.

Having discovered the joys of cooking, Sarah took culinary classes to further her newfound passion. She started with little experiments--from whipping eggs correctly, to cooking simple dishes. Eventually, Sarah learned to make Filipino favorites such as adobo and sinigang.

"Marunong na rin po akong gumawa ng iba't ibang sauces (I also know now how to make different sauces)," Sarah quipped in between laughter.


HER SECRET RECIPE FOR SUCCESS

For Sarah, nothing beats preparation and hard work when it comes to pursuing any interest. This has always been her magic formula to succeed in whatever she chooses to do. She also emphasized the importance of having help or assistance available whenever needed. For this, she counts on her mentors who help bring out her best, whether she's performing on-stage or acting on-screen.

Even when it comes to cooking, Sarah admits to getting some assistance. She admitted, "Syempre kailangan natin ng safe and simple tool to help me, 'di ba? Especially when I was just starting, medyo kabado po ako magluto (I need a safe and simple tool to help me, right? Especially when I was just starting, I was really nervous)."

In their newest commercial for Jollibee, the country’s leading fast-food brand, the popular love team delivers kilig once again alongside their favorite Yumburger.

Playing to the irresistibly delicious aroma of Jollibee’s best-selling burger, Joshua uses a freshly cooked Yumburger to draw in Julia for a special date he prepared. Guided by the mouthwatering scent wafting from the burger, Julia walks into a Jollibee store filled with rows of balloons and roses.

Women! Drive the Future: Driving out the Stereotypes





In celebration of International Women’s Month and Pilipinas Shell’s 105 years in the Philippines, the global leader in power and energy is launching a campaign to provide a platform that will empower women to take control in making the future and help erase the stigma against women drivers.

Dubbed “Women! Drive the Future,” the campaign aims to help drive out gender stereotypes and support the many meaningful journeys that women embark on every day. It serves as a call-out to all women to embrace their capability to believe in their capabilities, embrace their passions, and go where they want to go.

“We want to bring together women to talk about how they take on the road ahead of and how they can use this to take control of their lives. We at Shell believe that, through this campaign, we will be able to better understand and subsequently address the needs of every female driver,” said Vanessa Ejercito, Shell FuelSave Brand Manager.

With a goal to continuously enhance the journeys of their female customers, Pilipinas Shell has been coming up with several initiatives such as partnering with the country’s biggest retailer, SM Advantage, to create a loyalty program and reward them with exciting shopping opportunities every time they gas up. Shell stations are also designed to provide convenient, refreshing retail experience – from putting up well-appointed comfort rooms to offering a wide range of healthy products at Shell Select and Deli2go.





And to strengthen their movement to empower women, Pilipinas Shell is partnering with the leading driving school network in the Philippines, A-1 Driving School. With their expertise in providing driving education, A-1 supports the campaign’s goal to break the stigma through knowledge sharing.

Luna Garcia, A-1 Driving School Business Development Head, pointed out the dependency of Filipinos in learning how to drive through informal means. And with the increasing number of female drivers on the road, they came up with a program to equip female drivers on the road with proper driving knowledge that will help in proving wrong the stereotypes placed on them.

The “Women on Wheels” program tackles road safety—from identifying road signs to changing tires. “We want to emphasize that there are numerous preventive measures that we can take to minimize accidents. You start with following the rules, driving defensively, and ensuring proper vehicle maintenance,” Garcia noted.

“We believe that driving is a skill that every woman should have. And through this program, we foresee a future where there will no longer be a distinction of gender but only between an educated and misinformed driver.”





Racecar driver, Michele Bumgarner, and Baby Barangay members Kelly Misa-Fernandez, Patty Laurel-Filart, and Bianca Santiago were also present in the Women! Drive the Future launch event held at Blackbird at the Neilson Tower in Makati City. Joining them as well was Rowie Abracero, Directress of the Girls Racers club—the first all-female car enthusiast club in the Philippines. Led by the event host, Riki Flo of Magic 89.9, the women opened the discussion about driving out the stereotypes and supporting equality amongst men and women on the road.










Later in the program, we participated in the hands-on demonstration of A-1 where we were taught how to change a flat tire, how to deal with a dead battery, and how to perform a lubricant check.







The event is first of three activations in spreading the call for women to drive the future. Pilipinas Shell, along with their partner, A-1 aims to flip the stigma against female drivers and empowering all women across the country with upcoming events in Cebu and Davao.
