Give Your Children the Gift of Optimal Health

Reliv Now for Kids delivers nutrients in a liquid shake for more complete absorption, and advanced ingredients work together to boost energy, growth and mental performance.

Studies show soy promotes healthy childhood development and decrs the risk of chronic diseases later in life. LunaRich takes it a step further, with five to ten times the bioactive lunasin of ordinary soy powders. Lunasin provides a second line of defense when the body's initial defenses fall short:

Nourishes. Delivers the nutritional fuel to promote optimal expression of genes required for normal cell function.

Protects. Reduces inflammation and cell damage caused by free radicals and other environmental hazards.

"We developed Reliv Now for Kids as a way for parents to fill nutritional gaps to ensure their children are getting the nutrients they need to thrive," explains Dr.Carl Hastings, Reliv's chief scientific officer. "With LunaRich, we've added breakthrough approach to overall wellness you can't get anywhere else. More than ever, Reliv Now for Kids stands as the premier children's nutritional supplement."

Arielle Ong was diagnosed with developmental delay. At age 6, she was still unable to stand unaided, hardly uttered words and was still drooling. But when her parents John and Earleen Ong started her on Reliv, they noticed fast improvements. Arielle wasn't just able to stand up on her own but was also running around, dancing, jumping like any other kid. Arielle attends regular school, reaped academic awards, took ballet lessons and is now accomplished college student. Thanks to Reliv, Arielle is able to enjoy a fun, healthy and happy life! ~ Arielle Ong, Quezon City

Milo and Micho's parents used to worry about them because they both suffered from weak immune system. They would easily get sick and miss a lot of school days. They couldn't join any sports activities or play for a long time with other kids because they get tired easily. Their parents spent a lot for their medicines every month. When their mom gave them Reliv Now for Kids, they were excited because they love chocolate and vanilla drinks. They always drink Reliv shakes to help them become healthier and stronger. Today, they don't get sick as much and they don't miss school anymore. They can also play with their classmates, go swimming and play table tennis. Their family's very happy now because they're enjoying a lot of activities. ~ Milo & Micoh Co, Manila

Meet five-year old Sofia! Sofia's proud parents say that she seldom gets sick even with the sudden change of weather or when some of her playmates catch colds. Compared with other toddlers her age, her pediatrician said Sofia displays advanced motor and social skills. Her family calls her a happy and healthy Reliv baby! ~ Sofia Rianne Uy, Cebu

Before Reliv, Donnabel and Jig's youngest child, Julia, suffered from a number of health issues. She had seizure episodes, insomnia, constipation, and skin rashes. Just like any loving parents, they wanted to help their daughter overcome these challenges to let her reach her full potential. They are also thankful they found Reliv! They immediately gave her Reliv Now for Kids and were surprised to see a lot of improvements in her health. They noticed that Julia's appetite has improved and she has gained weight. Her constipation was also gradually addressed. Now she enjoys quality sleep and improved energy. She's always in a jovial mood and shows eagerness to communicate by babbling. She has also started walking with the support of her therapist. Because of this, the entire family is now taking Reliv products! ~ Julia Cunanan, Malabon City

Health Testimonials

"Before Reliv, I always felt exhausted and stressed. I was also repeatedly hospitalized for recurring stomach trouble and urinary tract infection. In spite of taking prescription medication, these concerns kept coming back and affected my daily life. My husband, on the other hand, had difficulty managing his blood sugar levels and psoriasis. We were tired of always feeling run down and started looking for a heathy solution. My husband and I tried Reliv Now together with other Reliv products, and within a few weeks we both had renewed energy and less stress. As we continued taking Reliv shakes twice a day, my health concerns became less bothersome, while my husband started seeing great improvements in his blood sugar levels and complexion. We are more than blessed to have Reliv nutrition on ou side!" ~ Marilyn Arenas, Tagum City

"Before Reliv, my kids could easily catch and colds and get sick especially during sudden weather changes. I started giving them Reliv Now for Kids shakes and after a few months on the products, I noticed that they rarely get sick. That time I knew that Reliv works and I got curious about what other benefits could Reliv do to me. After taking Reliv shakes consistently, I also started seeing remarkable changes in my health. Initially, I realized I seldom experience constipation and started enjoying improved energy. With that, I have become more productive. A few more weeks on the products, I lost all my pregnancy-related fats and over the years, my eyesight has also improved. I feel great, energetic and healthier every day! I will definitely continue taking Reliv products for as long as I can!" ~ Dorothy Tan, Quezon City

"I have been taking Reliv Now plus other Reliv products since 1993 and my health has always been in great condition. Believe it or not, I am now 72 years old and I'm enjoying a healthy and active lifestyle. I wake up at 5:00am every day with full energy that lasts throughout the day. I enjoy doing aerobics thrice a week and brisk walking regularly and yet I don't feel any body ache. And when it's time to sleep at night, I sleep like a baby and wake up feeling refreshed and revitalized inside and out. Reliv gives me that adrenalin rush! It keeps me going! Healthy aging is within reach when you're taking Reliv!" ~ Rose Blancaflor, Pasig City

"I used to suffer from recurring migraine and vertigo attacks for many years and was looking for products that would help ease my health concern. Whenever I felt the pulsating pain on one side of my head or when it started to feel like everything around me is spinning, I would just stay in bed and refrained myself from doing anything. I was a busy hands-on mom and frequent bouts of headache and vertigo were a major inconvenience at home. After taking Reliv Now on a regular basis, my health improved, I had more energy and became more projective each day. Headaches and vertigo also diminished and eventually became a thing of the past. Because of all these positive changes, I became more focused on my Reliv business and have more quality time with my family. Thanks to Reliv!" ~ Nenita Dayap, Bacolod City

The top germiest spots you need to clean

Did you know that aside from your toilet bowl, kitchen counter and pet cage, there are other spots and things inside your home – such as makeup, yoga mat and headphones – that rack up tons of germs?  It is crucial to keep these things clean and dirt-free to have a healthy body and prevent sickness.

“Contact with dirty everyday items such as mobile phones, kitchen sponge and sink  increase your risk of having illness-causing bacteria such as Salmonella, E. coli and Staphylococcus and influenza virus which might cause diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps,” says MediCard president Dr. Nicky Montoya.

Here are some of the germiest places and personal belongings that you must clean:

Dish sponge. The irony here is that sponges are supposed to ‘clean’ dishes and countertops and yet it is the dirtiest thing in most homes. According to a study, 77 percent harbored coliform bacteria, 86 percent contained yeast and mold, while 18 percent had staph bacteria. To disinfect a sponge, soak it in water then heat it in the microwave for one to two minutes, or just pour boiling water over it. It is also best to replace your dish sponge every two weeks.

Makeup and makeup brushes. Imagine putting on grimy makeup and brushes on your face. Numerous studies found that approximately half of all makeup brushes and mascara tubes are harboring germs. Make sure to keep and use makeup for about 6-months maximum and clean brushes using a disinfectant cleaner frequently.

Kitchen sink. Did you know that the kitchen sink is dirtier than most bathrooms? It has typically more than 500,000 bacteria per square inch in the drain. Clean your sink with an antibacterial product after preparing or cleansing food such as raw meat, fruits and vegetables.

Cell phone. Cellular phone has been a considered a necessity for people. But did you know that mobile phones are one of the risk factors for infection? According to a study, 1 in 6 cell phones is contaminated with fecal matter. That is why it is advised to shut down your device once a week and clean or wipe it with a disinfectant cloth.

Yoga mat. Practicing yoga is a relief for those who want to relax and calm their mind and body. However, yoga mats, especially communal ones, harbor sweat and microbes that can linger for days if unwashed. It is best to invest in a yoga towel to keep sweat off the mat itself or occasionally scrub mats with a bit of dish soap and water.

Headphones. Using headphones or earphones for one hour has been shown to coat them with bacteria from the ear, and increase the germ level in your ears by nearly 700 times. Keep your earphones dirt-free by simply cleaning your earbuds using a soap solution, or replacing detachable silicone covers.

Awareness of the dirty spots inside and outside your home and getting check-ups are important in preventing diseases.  MediCard has 13 free-standing clinics located in key cities nationwide that offer consultations, diagnostic tests and specialty medical services. Visit a MediCard clinic near you or check out their website at www.medicardphils.com for more information.

Dr. Moopen’s Foundation Proves that Care Goes BeyondBoundaries Filipino child receives free heart surgery in India

Dr. Moopen’s Foundation (DM Foundation), the organization set up by Aster DM Healthcare Chairman Dr. Azad Moopen, has once again proven that saving lives has no boundaries. In a unique multi-country charity initiative, a rare cardiac corrective surgery was successfully performed on Joneil Dasain, a 5-year-old boy from the Philippines at the Aster Medcity, Kochi. Conducted under the aegis of DM Foundation’s ‘Save the Little Hearts’ initiative, the surgery was carried out by a team of Indian specialists led by Dr. Sajan Koshy, Senior Consultant, Paediatric Cardiac Surgery, Center of Excellence in Cardiac Sciences, Aster Medcity, Kochi.

Indeed, the world becomes small when we reach out to care. The ‘Save the Little Hearts’ program has been helping indigent Filipino children with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) by providing free surgical treatment within the Aster DM Healthcare network. For the first time, a child coming straight from the Philippines is able to be flown to India for this much needed heart surgery at the world-class Aster Medcity.

“Joneil presented with bluish coloration of fingertips and lips and problems in breathing, all resulting from the congenital heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot. This should ideally have been corrected in the first year after birth.  The procedure was not free from risk due to his age. But we decided to take up the challenge. The child was evaluated by our expert team of specialists and a five hour long surgery was successfully undertaken,” commented Dr. Sajan Koshy, Senior Consultant, Paediatric Cardiac Surgery, CoE Cardiac Sciences.

In Tetralogy of Fallot, abnormalities in the structure of the heart result in blood with insufficient oxygen circulating through the body causing the various symptoms like cyanosis (bluish discoloration) of nails, lips and skin, tiredness and breathlessness. If left untreated, the defect has a 50% mortality rate in the first three years of life in addition to causing delay in growth and development.

Since the program was started, the DM Foundation has helped 26 Filipino children from disadvantaged families, who cannot afford to have their children treated for congenital heart disease to undergo corrective cardiac surgery. In addition, about 750 children have benefited from the ‘Save the Little Hearts’ program across various geographies. These children, primarily from India, but also from Afghanistan and Africa have received free or subsidized treatment from Aster DM Healthcare facilities channelized through the DM Foundation and its associates including MIMS Charitable Trust and other support associations.

Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman & Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare and Founder of DM Foundation, is a physician turned entrepreneur and philanthropist. During his early career, he had witnessed many families struggling to afford specialised treatment for many complex and critical health conditions. He founded the DM Foundation to help such patients and it is under this foundation that the not-for-profit initiatives of Aster DM Healthcare and Dr Azad Moopen’s family are being carried out.

Commenting on this unique initiative, Dr. Azad Moopen, said, “There are many children who are not able to reach their full potential because of congenital heart disease. Coming from poor backgrounds, the parents also cannot afford to have their children treated. The philosophy of our foundation is to provide quality healthcare to the deserving and make a difference in their lives. We are happy that DM Foundation has enabled Joneil to get the treatment to put him back on the path to a bright future. We look forward to helping more such children in the future through our efforts.”

Aster DM Healthcare-Philippines Country Head Joyce Alumno emphasized, “Five children are diagnosed with CHD for every 1,000 live births. Reports show that every nine minutes, a child below 15 years old dies of heart disease. We are grateful that through the selfless heart of Dr. Moopen and the expertise of our doctors in India, children like Joneil are given a chance to enjoy a quality of life like any normal child.”

“We want to do more. In fact, we have a line of possible beneficiaries needing urgent attention. However, we are unable to do so because of the long queue in the hospitals. With the success of Joneil’s case, we can now say, we can make this happen,” Alumno said.

Lance Masters, a Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Manila supported the DM Foundation and has accompanied the patient and his mother to India. He has documented Jolien’s journey to health on his Facebook page. He said, “Jolien’s free cardiac surgery has been possible thanks to a truly remarkable philanthropist, Dr Azad Moopen, who has designated 20% of his wealth to his charitable foundation dedicated to assisting poor people with catastrophic medical issues. In the Philippines, Dr. Moopen has committed to helping 50 indigent children with congenital heart defects through the DM Foundation’s ‘Save the Little Hearts’ program. I am honoured to work with the Foundation in this noble mission."

Dr. Harish Pillai, Cluster Head for Kerala & CEO Aster Medcity said, “The successful procedure is yet another testament of the exemplary skills of Aster Medcity’s talented team of doctors at our advanced world class quaternary healthcare facility. We are happy that the child is now recovering well and can look forward to lead a normal life.”

One hundred Filipino cultural dancers say “thank you” at World Culture Festival

One hundred Filipino cultural dancers performed a thanksgiving dance that wowed millions of attendees from around the world at the recent World Culture Festival, the biggest gathering for world peace that brought together people of various nationalities and faiths on one grand, magnificent global stage in New Delhi, India. The Art of Living Foundation, founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, organized the event in celebration of 35 years of service to humanity.

The dancers, who belong to the multi-awarded Buyogan Festival dancers from the province of Leyte, one of the areas ravaged by typhoon Yolanda, performed their celebrated dance to express gratitude to all volunteers and donors from around the world who helped their province recover from the disaster. Their attendance marked the first time that representatives from the Philippines graced a global event of such magnitude.

The millions in attendance during this the three-day event included thousands of artists, business, political and spiritual leaders from around the world. All were treated to cultural buffet of dance performances, ancient chants of peace, musical numbers, and inspiring speeches from around the world. The purpose was to celebrate harmony in diversity and love in a world that is increasingly ravaged by conflict caused by regional and religious divides.

Among those who made their presence felt were the likes of Vatican representative H.E. Bishop Marcelo, His Eminence, Grand Mufti of Syria Dr. Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun, and Rev. Gerald L. Durley, who is a good friend of US President Barack Obama. These leaders unanimously applauded Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for taking this spectacular step toward world peace.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, during his inauguration speech at the event highlighted Art of Living’s personality development programs and seminars that were at the backbone of this successful event – its programs uplift society by empowering  individuals and companies world-wide: “When you need to march forward in life to achieve your goals, then that is when you need to know The Art of Living …When you need the strength to overcome difficulties and troubles in life, then that is when you need The Art of Living.”

His speech was immediately followed by a string of remarkable performances that echoed the essence of peace and togetherness, as the finest talents the world over shared the stage with the international dignitaries present.  Close to 1,000 vedic scholars sang chants from ancient scriptures while captivating dance performances left everyone breathless and in awe then 8,500 musicians from the Art of Living Grand Symphony, meanwhile, mesmerized the audience with their enchanting music.

On day two of the festival, the powerful spirit of hope—together with a call to embrace diversity and oneness—stood as the key, reverberating message. The awe-inspiring presence of faith-leaders coupled with the intense response from the crowd was further encouraged by Vatican representative H.E. Bishop Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo, “Buddhist, Hindus, Muslims, Jews and of course people from the religion I share, Christianity, give an incredible testimony that The Art of Living helps people to get more in whatever faith or tradition they follow. You help people to live in their faith ever more intimately and personally.”

Joel Ruiz, a film director and one of 30 others who had flown from Manila to take part in this peace celebration, recalled how he was hooked on to meditation after he attended a happiness workshop by the Art of Living in Makati. "I have come here so that I can meditate with this sea of people attending this celebration. We have to collectively aim for inner peace so that we can achieve world peace," he said.

Buyogan Festival performer during the World Culture Festival

The final day culminated with a finale number where all the thousands of international performers from all the groups including the Buyogan Festival danced simultaneously to a medley of songs making the idea of “One World Family” an experience of the audience.

Expressing his deep appreciation for the success of the festival, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said: “To all of you, who have come from nearby and faraway destinations, from different faiths and nationalities, a heartfelt thank you. It’s your faith, love and compassion that have enabled the teams at Art of Living to present the biggest and the happiest family get-together—the World Cultural Festival.”

Food Trip: Dexter's Bakeshop & Coffee Shop

One of the perks of freelancing - we get to bring the kids everywhere. One of our latest client's office is around Katipunan and we need a place to keep the toddlers cool from the afternoon sun. So before our meeting, we looked for a place to stay and this caught my toddler's eyes.

The huge cakes in the display window did it for him. Just in time for mom's craving for pasta!

Kwento: He opens the menu and pick this pasta with a photo in it. His order arrived and he checked to make sure his order (in the photo) is exactly like the one on his table. He also asked me to take two photos: of his order, and of himself with his order. I obliged!

Aside from soups, salads, sandwiches and pasta, the menu has Pinoy Favorites like Special Palabok, Inihaw na Liempo, Inihaw na Pusit and Tanique Steak. All-Day Breakfast includes my all-time favorite Longganiza with rice and egg. The Tawilis with salted egg also looks scrumptious. Rice & Specialties includes Korean Beef Stew, Beef Teriyaki and Salpicao. They also offer special cakes, pastries, desserts and pies!
We can't wait to have another meeting with our clients and be back here, to our newest hangout to try for more!

For the millennial women of today, this kind of empowerment is the right effort on the right mark, a push to live life to the fullest. This event was fun-filled learning experience for me as it tackled success storiespersonal social causes and inspiring initiatives on self-proficiency, anti-intellectualism, legacy-building, and meaningful social impact.

The program was subdivided into four plenary: 1 - Boosting Curiosity and Intellectual Discourse, 2 - Working Towards Financial Freedom, 3 - Finding the Courage to Lead, and 4 - Nurturing Passions to Inspire Good.

The program was started by a huge raffle and games portion. Sponsors and brand partners includes Manulife, Maynilad, Strip, Keds, Flawless, Daily Grub, AwardExtremes, BrowHaus, Canon, Goldilocks, Coca-Cola, Haier, Lipault Paris, Jergens, Subic Grand Seas Resort, Sharpie, Vedette, CBTL, Bayani Brew, BG and Serenitea.
Formal program begun with the Keynote Speaker Ms. Amina Rasul-Bernardo, President of Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy and an International Women's Advocate. She talked about the Mindanao conflict, of Islam and democracy.

Plenary 1's first speaker was Ana Santos. She was really set to perform and inspire modern Filipinas.
Ana Santos is an internationally-awarded journalist and an advocate of Reproductive Health, Gender, Population and Development. One of her best articles awarded her an international reporting grant by the Pulitzer Center in WDC about the series of stories of Filipino nannies working in Dubai, entitled, "Who Takes Care of Nanny's Children?"
What I like about Ana? She's a straight-forward, practical, smart girl. Her job as a sex columnist has a lot of occupational hazard (if you know what I mean) and despite the shame slamming and awkward instances, she was never silenced.

Working Towards Financial Freedom Inspire Speaker was Myrna Padilla and the Act Speaker? Salve Duplito. Salve exceeds my expections, I just can't get enough of her financial wit. What she does? Aside from inspiring, she's pushing women, mothers in particular, to act wisely when it comes to their finances -that brought tears to them and her, too. Salve is a TV Anchor and writer, ABS-CBN News Channel and an award-winning print and broadcast financial journalist. She pushed for cultural revolution on how people should handle their finances including the wise ways of getting of debt.

On Finding the Courage to Lead, Myrza Sison talked on dealing with fear.

People buy so many things with money they don't have to impress people they don't like.

#youwanttowantitbad

Courage is resistance to fear. Mastery of fear, not the absence of fear. - Mark Twain

Myrza Sison has been the editorial Director of Summit Media for more than a decade, won a Palanca Award in 2006  for her short story "Sink or Swim". And I believed her when she admitted that she's the queen of quotes. There is power in soft strength. How to deal with fear?
1 Name the Fear (Self Assessment) - What is your fear? Criticism? Disapproval? Failure? Success? Being found out? Working hard?

If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough.

2 Face the Fear (Recognize the Problem) - FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real. All problems are illusions of the mind.
3 Stop the Fear (Solution) - If you have to go against the flow, do it. As long as your dignity is intact and you are not stepping on someone else's foot.
Other speakers includes Risa Hontiveros' daughter, Myrna Padilla - an OFW turned into Businesswoman, Josephine Bundoc - Leni Robredo's sister-in-law, and Plenary 4: Nurturing Passions to Inspire Good Speakers, Susan Afan of ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya foundation and Jen Santos of G-Stuff.
With the program host, Atom Araullo

Too bad I didn't finished the entire program, bellas who finished the whole day got a certificate. I really enjoyed learning from these inspirational women. Now, in my own little way, I'm ready to help other women while helping myself, family and friends along the way.
