Albert Martinez finds a deeper purpose being a supportive dad and family man

Albert Martinez is undeniably a formidable actor with immense talent. Even with the many awards and critical acclaim under his belt, Albert’s greatest trophies –his most precious rewards –are truly his kids: Alyanna, stylist and fashionista; Alissa, online entrepreneur and foodie; and Alfonso, certified car nut and restaurateur.

In fact, Albert is first to admit how fatherhood completely changed his life and his outlook. “From a happy-go-lucky lifestyle,” he reveals, “I became more responsible. Being a father really gives you a more purposeful way of looking at life, and makes you more success-driven in order to provide a better future for your family.”


The untimely passing of his loving wife Liezl two years ago dealt a painful blow to family. While the void will forever be felt, Albert is grateful that Liezl did an excellent job in laying a strong foundation for their kids as they were growing up. “They’re all very focused and grounded,” he beams with pride.

And indeed, the Martinez brood is a picture of a contented, tight-knit family that is supportive of each other’s diverse interests and respective of each other’s personalities, where they make time to bond – to live deeper — just like friends. “My dad and I have a lot of things in common,” shares eldest child Alyanna. “We love traveling, we love the outdoors, and we’re both moody at times,” she confesses. He even took a break from the hit series Ang Probinsyano just to be with Alyanna on her winter wedding in the US last year.

For Alissa, on the other hand, her being a foodie and love for animals are the ties that bind her close to her dad. Apart from helping set-up her online business PoppyLuca, an online pet accessories store, they can often be found in the kitchen together trying out new recipes. “My dad and I love to cook and we both love to eat!” she shares with a laugh.

And then, of course, there’s Alfonso, the unico hijo and bunso, whose love for cars and karting is something he picked-up from his dad. “My dad loves tinkering with cars during his free time,” he relates. Alfonso recalls fondly how he and his dad would join car clubs and go to car shows. “It’s really his passion aside from acting, and a hobby that I enjoy myself!”

Another thing that runs common among the Martinezes is their love for animals. They currently have seven dogs and translated this passion into a thriving family business: Ask a Vet.

Reva Flip Flops and a Teal Surprise!

I used to love heels and wedges, but ever since the babe started running, got pregnant again, and now nursing a wound (hurray for  cesarean section - it's a way to save angels!), I exchange my stilettos to comfy slip-on shoes! And mind you, my latest find made me a bit more crazy than usual!

It's the Reva Footwear! This is worth the rave because of it's simple designs and comfort. I prefer comfort than style when it comes to footwear - so this brand is something that delighted me. It really is promising, plus the fact that it's not just good on my feet, it's good on my wallet too!

NAVA's Snakeskin Navi Cap

This is just a short post about my latest Nava purchase!

This is not a premeditated purchase, although I've been planning to collect hats and caps, I think this is more of an impulse buy.

Nevertheless, I didn't regret buying this because

- it's the pop of color I need when I'm wearing just a tee, cardigan and denim pants during site inspections

- it's a classic piece of accessories

- snakeskin could glam up any casual wear

- has small tiny holes to let scalp breath

Jockey Shapewears

After pregnancy, binders and high waist briefs are your new best friends! I was in denial and I can't bear the heat, until my personal critic (which I always face in front of the mirror) slapped me, and slapped me hard!

So... after several breathing in and out, I decided to look around - found out that Watson's Belly Binder worth around Php200 is worthless! It slides off when you sit - don't buy it unless you intend to use it while standing and walking around only. Yup, no bending, reaching around and sitting or it will slowly slide off... it will piss you more than you could ever imagine!

The blue Avon waist binder that we had like forever, (Got this from my mom - and I remember her having this when I was still a grade schooler!) however, is the bomb! You can dance in it without sliding! With that, I give Avon four thumbs up, two on my hands and the rest on my feet!

Since I can't walk around the public with my binder on looking like a humongous roll of human sushi, I had to look for a shapewear! And, mind you they were pretty expensive! So when I ask the lady what's on sale, she happily announce that when you buy 3 pieces of Jockey Shapewear High Waist Mini Briefs in any color, you'll get another, free of charge! My jaw dropped! That's a steal! A good delicious steal! With a wink of an eye, I swipe my credit card away! Goodbye Php3.6k and hello sexy! I wish the sexy part was that simple!!!

For Php1199.75 apiece, these shapewears comes in two colors, skintone and black. I'm going for all black but the lady suggest I grab one skintone color, quoting "you'll never know..." and so I said "OK, sure whatever!"

Another thing I got was this Maybelline MasterLiner in BR-1 It's a reddish-brown eyeliner that could build up and intensify perfect for soft everyday neutral eyes, smoked or not. :) Has a creamy texture that wouldn't drag the skin because it glides well. It's not that long and is kind of hard to remove using wetwipes alone because its smudge proof and resistant to water but a regular makeup remover will do. No need to sharpen because you just twist the handle to protrude product but has a tendency to break if it's too long or if the pressure is too high.
