Gifted kids shine bright in Promil Four’s i-Shine 7 Celebrate the Gift Recital

Over 270 Promil Four i-Shine 7 talent camp i-Shiner graduates took the stage to shine bright, wowing the audience with amazing creations and inspiring performances during Promil Four’s i-Shine 7 Celebrate the Gift Recital at SMX Aura.

Ms. Dimples Romana

Ever-supportive parents, relatives, mentors, and other kids filled the SMX Aura Convention Center with cheers and applause as they witnessed future artists, dancers, musicians, ballerinas, and actors conquer the stage. Seasoned actress Dimples Romana, who has been hosting Promil Four’s i-Shine ever since its beginning in 2009, once again  had the honor of hosting the recital.

Art Camp i-Shiners

To begin the celebration, members of the Art Camp, under the mentorship of Teacher Robert Alejandro of Papemelroti and Teacher Kara of Masterpiece Movement, cultivated the value of Imagination through creative exploration and self-expression as they showcased a lovely mural & tunnel that they worked on during their workshop.

Dance Camp i-Shiners

Next, participants of the Dance Camp, mentored by G-Force choreographers and guided by Teacher Georcelle Dapat-Sy, brought the house down with both beginner and intermediate hip-hop moves. Through sequences of steps, rhythmic patterns, thumping beats, and awesome formations, each Promil Four i-Shiner explored and found a passion for dance. The value of Teamwork was incorporated as an important part of their learning during their workshops, allowing them to work together while also expressing individuality in their performance.

Ballet Camp i-Shiners

Meanwhile, the little ballerinas melted the audience’s hearts because of their frilly tutus and satin ballet shoes. Personally taught and led by Prima Ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde of Ballet Manila, the little ballerinas demonstrated poise and grace with their smooth and delicate movements. With the help of Promil Four i-Shine7 Ballet Camp, the little girls learned the value of discipline that they will take with them beyond the workshop.

Theater Camp i-Shiners

Next, the Theatre Camp i-Shiners showed off their confident, gregarious, and versatile selves on stage. One of the Promil Four Theater camp i-Shiners’ performances was the popular fable “The Boy Who Cried Wolf,” directed by Coaches from Trumpets Playshop. Through imagination and creativity, as well as embracing the arts in all its forms, the Theatre Camp took a step closer towards creating well-rounded, confident, and versatile kids.

Music Camp i-Shiners

Members of the Music Camp showcased their gift through a lively performance of voices and instruments in perfect harmony, guided by National Artist, Maestro Ryan Cayabyab. While the kids learned new musical lessons, they were also imparted with improved skills, confidence, and an increased awareness of the learning and leadership needed to thrive in life.

Promil Four’s i-Shine 7 Camps ran from April to May 2019.  This year’s camp locations expanded beyond Metro Manila with the addition of Batangas, Cebu, and Davao. Promil Four, as part of its commitment, continues to encourage parents to nurture their children’s gifts, not only with expert guidance, but also with proper nutrition. Hip-hop dancer, 3D artist, and music prodigy join Promil Four’s i-Shine Talent Camp 7

It’s summertime! Some kids spent their vacations glued to their gadgets, but there are other kids, like Rhian Udalve, Geof Liwanag, and Jade Lawrence Yusiong, who joined Promil Four’s i-Shine Talent Camp this summer, the breeding ground for talented children in the arts, dance, and music.

Promil Four’s i-Shine Talent Camp, now on its 7th season, continues to provide parents withvenues for a much more productive summer break for theirchildren.  These three kids, along with hundreds like them every year, look forward to the camp as a stepping stone to reach their dreams of shining in their respective fields of interest.

Rhian Udalve of Dance Camp

For Rhian, 10, this summer was all about honing her skills in dance. Promil Four’s i-Shine 7 Dance Camp taught her hip-hop moves that she picked up from the talented G-Force choreographers. She dreams of becoming an actress and professional dancer, just like her idol Maja Salvador. Her aspirations are fully supported by both parents. “Para sa anak ko ito. Nakita namin na may potential siya at susuportahan namin ang pangarap niya,” her dad Rolly said. He also said he is willing to work thrice as hard if that’s what it takes to provide her with opportunities to learn.

Geof Liwanag of Art Camp

Another kid who made the mostof summer vacation is Geof, 9, who spent his break thinking outside the box at Promil Four’s i-Shine 7 Art Camp. His mom, KC Enerva, is happy with the outcome. “I enrolled him in i-Shine because alam ko yung quality ng camps based on previous i-Shiners. Perfectionist kasi si Geof, pero ngayon natuto siya na it’s okay to make mistakes and ask for help from others,” she said.

Mentored by teachers Robert Alejandro and Kara Escay, Art Camp is a place where children have fun exploring, growing, and learning about themselves, the people, and the world around them.

Geof was three years old when his mom noticed that he was skilled in arts and sciences. Admittedly a fast learner, Geof has not only improved on his art structures and 3D paintings, but also his social skills. “I’m so happy that I have new friends and I learned that it’s okay to make mistakes because that’s how I grow,” he said.

Jade Lawrence Yusiong of Music Camp

Indeed, growing is an integral lesson in the camps. This new environment gives them the chance to try take on new challenges and pick up new skills, as Jade, 6, discovered as he explored and honed his musical gift.

Mentored by none other than National Artist Ryan Cayabyab himself and teachers from his Music School, Jade had the time of his life discovering and developing his craftc. According to his mom Annie Yusiong, Jade taught himself to play the piano at age 2, and has showed serious signs of interest since then.

Jade is one of the youngest in the camp. He is very obedient and keeps his mind open to new musical possibilities. “My new friends and I always enjoy the activities in camp because we learned that everyone is gifted in their own way,” he said.

As Promil Four’s i-Shine Talent Camp stays true to its mission of nurturing the gift, the next generation of awe-inspiring kids is guided by some of the country’s finest experts andmentors to help them reach their full potential through mental, physical, and social stimulation workshops.

After a summer of unique learning and growth opportunities, Promil Four i-Shiners will graduate from the camps with more than just new relationships; they learned to cooperate with and respect others, as well as take responsibility as young individuals. Promil Four’s i-Shine Talent Camp experience gave them an advantage to shine not just on stage or in the studio, but also in life.

Expert mentors help kids shine in Promil Four i-Shine Talent Camp 7

All kids are born with a gift. While it is often up to parents to discover their child's unique gift or talent, making sure this gift is nurtured and honed requires the guidance of an experienced mentor. Mentors play a vital role in developing a kid’s talent – they have the ability to bring a kid out of her shell, expose her to new experiences and polish her talent until she is ready to shine.

This is the reason why, for this year's Promil Four i-Shine Talent Camp, six of the country's best and most recognized mentors have been commissioned to guide and nurture kids’ gifts through meaningful and memorable talent camps across Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, and Batangas.

Maestro Ryan Cayabyab with Kara Escay and Robert Alejandro

This year, Promil Four i-Shine Talent Camp 7 is presenting Teachers Robert Alejandro and Kara Escay for the Art Camp, Maestro Ryan Cayabyab for the Music Camp, Teacher Georcelle Dapat-Sy for the Dance Camp, Audie Gemora for the Theatre Camp, and Lisa Macuja-Elizalde for the Ballet Camp.

Georcelle Dapat-Sy

An artist who knew that she was born to dance is Georcelle Dapat-Sy, the brains behind the country’s premier dance company G-Force. She has mentored many young dancers, as well as countless artists. Teacher Georcelle, who believes that anyone can learn to dance, continues to share her knowledge and skills through mentoring kids in the i-Shine Talent Camp.

In the music industry, there’s no one like Ryan Cayabyab. Warmly known as Mr. C, Cayabyab has proven to be a true musical genius as he received the highest national honor for Filipino artists, the National Artist Award for Music. His gift and passion for music earned him several accolades as a composer, musical director, conductor, and accompanist.

Kids are in for a treat as visual artists Robert Alejandro and Kara Escay believe that those who love creating something out of nothing are truly gifted children because they learn how to see the world with wonder and imagination. Born into a family of artists, Alejandro is an accomplished journalist, TV show host, and designer for Papemelroti, a specialty shop that carries a wide array of gifts and decorative accessories owned by his family. He also enjoyed brief stints as a store and mall designer, book illustrator and package designer for various companies in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Escay is an Art Therapist who received her Fine Arts degree from the University of the Philippines. She is also the Co Founder & Head Teaching Artist at Masterpiece Movement, a creative, wholehearted and transformative multi-arts movement which goals to spark hearts, shift views and stretch ways of being through creativity and the multi-arts.

This season, i-Shine makes things more exciting for kids as it introduces two new camps: Theater and Ballet. With the newest additions, children can explore and discover their talents in the fields of acting and classical ballet!

Audie Gemora

To help bring out your kid’s talent in acting is veteran theater actor Audie Gemora. With a three-decade old career that has seen him playing all kinds of roles, Gemora has been lauded as the “King of Philippine Musical Theatre” and is known for his work on Bliss (2017), Batch '81 (1982), and Paglipad Ng Anghel (2011).

Lisa Macuja-Elizalde

When it comes to classic ballet, Lisa Macuja-Elizalde is surely the person you’d want your kids to learn from. The prima ballerina started taking lessons at 8 years old and the first foreigner to join Russia’s Kirov Ballet and was the first artist-in-residence of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. In 1995, Macuja established her very own ballet company, Ballet Manila.

May it be singing, dancing, acting, or painting, your kids’ talent will surely shine and stand out with the help of world-class mentors from Promil Four!

PROMIL® Four, Nurturing Every Child’s Gift

Nurturing your child is very important because it has so much impact when they grow old. Wyeth Philippines turned back time and let mommy bloggers experience to become child again and learn new things like a kid!

Last November 7, 2017, PROMIL® Four, in partnership with the Philippine Center for Gifted Education (PCGE), conducted a Learning Workshop, that features expert speakers in the field of Developmental Pediatrics, Clinical Psychology, Obstetrics, Health & Wellness, Arts, and Nutrition as part of this year's celebration of the Gifted Awareness Month. The event was held at Sofitel Philippines Plaza Manila in Pasay City and was hosted by Ms. Dimples Romana.

The event is in line with the brand’s theme of “Shaping the Gift to Build Tomorrow’s Greats.” It gathered with celebrity and blogger parents, who participated in a series of workshops and activities in a bid to educate them on the importance of building a strong foundation for their child’s learning abilities.

According to Dra. Leticia Ho, Clinical Psychologist/Neurotherapist and President of Philippine Center for Gifted Education, the future will be different for children. In the face of an ever-changing world, they will need to learn a different set of skills. The best period to nurture these abilities lies in the crucial first 1,000 days of the child, starting with the mother’s pregnancy. It is during these days that the child responds and adapts to different interventions.

“A child’s development results from an ongoing and cumulative process of nurturing. This means that your child’s brain development can be affected by both environmental and intrinsic factors,” added Ho. “This event aims to educate the parents on the proper tools and approach to help shape their child’s gift. With the proper parenting, proper stimulation, and proper nutrition we believe that your child can reach his full potential.”

PROMIL® Four’s Learning Workshop highlights three different activities that show the advantage of multi-dimensional development in nurturing a child’s gift to its full potential. These activities are based on three learning zones focused on the physical, mental, and socio-emotional development.

The physical activity focused on the importance of growth and immunity to strengthen physical agility through a yoga class. As a productive meditation activity, it showed how yoga can stimulate body movement and sensory experiences for children. It also promotes multi-dimensional learning as it encourages balance and coordination, focus and concentration, mind and body connection, and self-awareness and mindfulness.

Meanwhile, the mental activity featured an art workshop developed to encourage recognition and memory. This activity focused on bringing the experience on how art can develop a child’s memory through storytelling and painting while inculcating repetitive practices and rhythms.

Lastly, the camp also has a social activity, through a giant block game, focused on the need of being socially adept for better learning. It underlined how an imaginative game can promote strong leadership qualities in children through imagination, communication, and collaboration.

Meanwhile, PROMIL® Four’s Learning Camp also emphasized the importance nutrition plays in supporting a child’s advanced learning abilities. “Proper nutrition plays an essential role in your child’s brain development. With the right nutrients, it can further support a child’s advanced learning abilities,” added Ma. Neva Luna Batayola, Medical Director.

To end the event, Dra. Leticia Penano-Ho, President of Phil Center for Gifted Education gave a key take away message and that is “Every child has the talent which can be a Gift if discovered and nurtured early. It is the parent’s role to make the child’s talent reach his full potential, or else that gift could just be there untapped and undiscovered.”

Aside from the Learning Workshop, this year, PROMIL® Four is also partnering with Atlantis Production. They will be showcasing awe-inspiring talents in the local production of Matilda the Musical, a theater play that features the story of a gifted child.

The three child actors, who will portray the lead role of the play are Esang De Torres of ABS-CBN’s “The Voice Kids” and “Les Miserables” Asian Tour; Uma Naomi Martin of “A Little Princess”; and Gawad Musika’s Outstanding Child Performer, Felicity Kyle Napuli. This musical play will run from November 10 to December 10, 2017. Promil Four is raffling out free Matilda tickets, visit www.promilfour-matilda.com for more information.

PROMIL® Four has long been known for nurturing the young Filipino’s gift. It is specially formulated for children above three years old and is the only brand that contains NUTRISSENTIALS®—the combination of the unique and important nutrients that help support mental & physical development to help Nurture the Gift, together with balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.
