Summerventures 101: What You Need to Know about Sunscreen

Sunscreen is arguably the number one skincare product associated with summer. As the sun shines brighter, temperature goes higher, and the days become longer, it's best to be prepared and protect your skin the best way you can.
Not many people, however, know what is written on the sunscreen label. To make the most of your time under the sun, here are a few things to know about your favorite sunscreen lotion.

The UVB Rays
Most people think that the Sun Protection Factor is everything there is to check in a sunblock-- and it does count a lot. The SPF measures the product's ability to block UVB rays, which are related to sunburn and skin cancer.
SPF, however, only measures UVB rays. It does not have much effectiveness when it comes to UVA rays.

The UVA Rays
UVA is often the most misunderstood part of sunscreen formulations. This is present every day, and can penetrate through glass windows. Much like UVB, it is also linked to higher risk of skin cancer. Unlike UVB, however, UVA does not get filtered by the ozone.
UVA doesn't cause sunburn, but it can lead to skin darkening and aging, as the rays penetrate deeper into hte skin, affecting the collagen.
Dermplus sunscreens, for example, protect against both UVA and UVB rays, giving you complete sun protection in one go.

The SPF
The SPF number measures how well a sunscreen protects against UVB rays. If your skin would normally burn after staying 10 minutes under the sun, using an SPF 15 sunscreen would allow you stay out under the sun for about 150 minutes (a factor of 15 times longer) without burning your skin.
However, it does not mean that an SPF 15 sunscreen is half as effective as an SPF 30. The difference in the SPF numbers also takes into account UVB filtering capabilities.
SPF 15 can filter about 93% of UVB rays, SPF 30 about 97%, SPF 50 about 98%, and so on. The type you choose depends on your skin tone, how sensitive your skin is to the heat, and how easily you get color on your skin.

Dermplus Sunscreen comes in different varieties to suit your needs. Whether you want an everyday sunscreen for indoor use, or one that will protect you when doing extreme outdoor activities, there's a product that's right for you.

The Right Amount
For the sunscreen to work as advertised, you have to apply a liberal amount on all exposed areas of the skin, and re-apply it every after two hours or when you feel it has worn off.

This summer, enjoy the best sunventures ensuring you get the most out of your sunscreen lotion.

ZA True White Day Protection

With SPF 26 & ++PA, this daytime moisturizer blocks UV rays while helping reduce dark spots and acne marks. It minimizes the appearance of visible melanin build up in long-term use while creating a veil for a bright pearly radiance that enhances skin tone making it look healthier while working to improve overall condition.
After moisturizer, just smooth a pea size evenly over face and neck before foundation. Avoid direct eye contact since the sunscreen ingredient is a sore in the eye. Just rinse eyes in cool water thoroughly in case. Also, the package said that the thinner you apply, the lower your sun protection since indicated sun protection is based on a 2mg/cm^2.
This product is basically a primer and sunscreen rolled in one. I usually apply this after toner and moisturizer.
I felt that after undergoing water therapy for a couple of months now, my skin is fairer, healthier. People are observing these changes - and I like it. What I like about this product is that when I need to go out to run an errand, I just apply this go. Yes, water therapy and this product apparently matches - at least in my case.

Avon Solutions Sun 30SPF UV Protective Body Spray

Yup, it's not in a form of lotion like everything else, it's a body spray!
avon solutions
This product was recommended to me by my sister, Beth. She is using this stuff every single day, I think she's already running out her first bottle! Like I said a thousand times before, the reason lazy person like myself used to say *insert biatchy tone here "it's so sticky!"
So, what is this Solutions Sun is made of?
Well, according to its packaging ...
*External Protection of SPF30 - high protection against sunburn and premature aging caused by UVA and UVB rays
* Internal Defense - formulated to help strengthen skin's fundamental defense against environmental stressors and skin damage.

After several months of usage - I noticed that it has a strong stench smell of chemicals. It does makes your skin looks shiny and oily (which my sister hates, but I don't mind it) maybe because it is effective in refracting the sun's uva and uvb. It's somewhat sticky when it dries despite the fact that it is not in a lotion form. The smell is freaking me out. I think I won't buy this anytime soon unless they change their "formula". But I think it really is good in protecting skin against the sun. So, if you don't mind the smell, then you might want to try it and see for yourself. :)

Hi guys! How are you? I just wanna share to you my OOTD that inspired by Marian Rivera :)

Stiefil's SpectraBAN 60

I was too skeptical to wear sunblock before, because first, it takes extra time to apply. Second, it feels super thick it makes my skin feel extra greasy during summer and extra hot as I feel the "film" blocking my skin, unable to breathe! Okay, so maybe I was overreacting so scratch the last part. :P But after beating myself up and convincing I had to, and tried EverBilena's Body and Face Sunblock and two others, now, I am on the hunt for new sunblocks to try out there most especially now that he sun IS scorching hot! But don't get me wrong, we still need sunblock even when it's cloudy and raining!

Moving on, I got myself some free stuff from a mommy-baby event, thanks to our friendly Physiogel Booth friends! :D
Now, here is what Spectraban looks like...

Short Time: 3 Basic Make Up Rules

Today I will share rules I used to break, still break during my lazy days. :) I know a lot of people are guilty of these but it's never too late to change, right? :)

#1 - don't sleep with make up on
- my top 1 violation! :P remove make up and wash face, but during lazy days, what I do is, I use make up remover and wet wipes, if there is no make up remover everywhere, I use my good ole' lotion or facial moisturizer

#2 - let your face breathe
- best reason not to put make up on my busy days. I'm good with sunscreen, colored lip balm and brows!

#3 - drink water!
- if you are a breastfeeding mom, water is your best friend. if you love painting faces, water is your best friend and guess what? I'm both! :D
If you break them all and worse comes to worst, just smile. A genuine smile is still the best feature a woman could ever have.
