Raising Well-Rounded Kids for the Future Starts at Home

Nowadays, most of the children loves to eat junk foods and fast food chains are everywhere. Sometimes we prepare instant foods at home because that's easy to prepare and very convenient! Obviously, nutrition has been compromised sometimes because of the food we choose.

And more kids now are prone toward obesity because of a combination of technology activity and physical inactivity. As a result, many children grow up facing issues such as obesity, social difficulties, attention problems, and learning deficiencies.

For sure, many parents are facing
different challenges today. But how can we make sure that our children will grow up ready to face whatever the future brings?

These new challenges that parents have to contend with can be overwhelming. That’s not to say however, that you can’t do anything about it. With consistency, dedication, patience, and a little guidance and support from fellow parents, experts and Parentology+, powered by NANKID, it’s entirely possible for parents to ensure that their kids are future ready.

The Future Starts at Home

As parents try to navigate the new challenges presented by changing lifestyles and technological advancements, Parentology+, powered by NANKID, is making sure that parents are empowered with the tips that will help reshape their children’s future.

Launched earlier this year, Parentology+ is anchored on three pillars—proper nutrition, active lifestyle, and high social quotient. “The success of Parentology+, gave parents an opportunity to address challenges presented by modern parenting. We would like to go deeper into these issues and really flesh out the importance of these three pillars, as well as give parents the tools to establish this at home,” exclaimed Jean Espino, Vice President for Marketing -Premium Milks of NestlĂ© Philippines.
Understanding that parents seek guidance and tips from people they trust, Parentology+ sought the help of various experts to weigh in and give advice for the three pillars, partnered with the NANKID ambassadors.

Cat Arambulo-Antonio is skilled at juggling relationships in different situations, and with clinical psychologist, Dr. Cely Magpantay, the two believe that in order to help your child socialize, it’s important to put your child in new situations where they can learn and listen to others. To better encourage kids to socialize with others, Dr. Cely says, “Warm up, be present at first, then be invisible during playtime. Join them during the start of the activity, and eventually let them be. Be a role model to them.”

In the event, they have also prepared an activity that lets moms and kids do work together to see what traits their child already possesses and how they can further build on them to make them more socially competent.

Nutrition can be challenging for parents, especially when kids need around 3,000 calories a day. However, Joy Sotto and Ms. Aleli Magtibay, Nestle’s own Nutritionist, say that it can be done with moderation, balance and variety of food options. Ms. Aleli further advises parents, “Follow portions by making sure to give a combination of go, grow, and glow foods in every meal, and practice variety, in terms of flavor, texture, color, and food preparation.”

For Parentology+, a kitchen set-up was created for kids to be able to select different food in the pantry to create a balanced meal which will then be verified by an interactive nutrition guide and scanner.

Play time may seem like a regular activity for children, but its benefits on the child’s physical health is hard to ignore. Anton Del Rosario and Dr. Edgar Eufemio, an orthopedist specializing in sports medicine, want parents and kids to realize that some activities are better than others.

Through a fun goal kicking challenge, kids learned the different traits that are beneficial to their physical development and lifestyle.

When asked how to encourage kids to be more active, Dr. Edgar says, “Give them a taste of success by giving words of encouragement. Be supportive of your kids’ activities, so they would just continue doing what they love to do. Also, play with them. If you expect them to be disciplined and grow up a certain way, do it with them.”

Parents are encouraged to be a role model for their children, and participate in their various activities, may it be socializing, eating healthier and staying active.

Through learning the style of modern parenting, Parentology+, can help parents create a customized model that can help reshape their child’s future. These three pillars are essential to the development of a healthy, well-rounded child that’s ready to take on the challenges the future holds.

The ambassadors and experts all encourage everyone to drop by Parentology+ to learn more about the three pillars, and how they can make their own home, a home of the future.

With the different activities that await participants, exciting prizes such as digital instant cameras, premium tumblers, and other exclusive NANKID items can be won when they post their experience at Parentology+ on social media using the hashtags: #NANKID #PARENTOLOGY #ReShapeTheFuture.

Parentology+, powered by NANKID, will also coming to SM City Cebu on August 11-12 and Abreeza Davao on August 25-26.

Help Reshape Your Child's Future Today

Being a parent today is not so easy. But did you know that being a parent  is a superpower? We have the power to reshape our children's future today. And its important to know that the decisions we make today for our child will shape his/her future. That's why Nestle Nankid Milk launched Parentology+ to help parents reshape their child's future.

The event was held at Trinoma Mall Activity Center last February 3. Many parents joined in to support the advocacy to help reshape their child's future through the simple things they do at home because everything starts at home. The event has 3 different stations that pointing on topics about lifestyle, physical activity and socialization.

The world is vastly different from what it was just a decade ago, causing anxiety among parents trying hard to provide their children a future full of possibilities.
Technology, environmental changes, and lifestlyle shifts have redefined the way people do and view things, so much so that today's parents sometimes feel overwhelmed by the world their children are growing in.

Unlike a generation ago when school children often ate home-cooked meals and played games with neighbors, today's children often consume fast food items while playing video games on their handhelds. Parks and outdoor spaces have been replaced by sprawling malls, while the ever increasing population has meant traffic congestion, pollution, and other urban challenges that did not exist or were not as bad ten years ago. As a result, many children have become couch potatoes with limited socialization difficulties, attention problems, and the like.

Worse, there are factors that parents feel they could not do much about such as famil health history, to name a few, which could potentially influence their children's future.

Despite all these challenges, parents still posses the power to reshape the future of their children. With commitment, knowledge, and support, they can build a better future for their kids.

To guide parents in reshaping he future of their children, Nestle NANKID is partnering with them in advancing Parentology+ ,an advocacy to help parents tale charge of their future with simple steps that can be taken right at home. These day-to-day measures cover the different phases of life, such as diet and nutrition, exercise and activity, socialization, and creativity.

To launch Parentology+, Nestle NANKID will be holding a series of events to bring the advocacy closer to parents across the country. The events will feature bloggers who are also parents, and who can share their experiences about different aspects of their parenting journey. Blogger Stephanie Zubiri-Crespi and Nestle Nutritionist Ms. Aleli Magtibay will give insights on nurtition and diet. Football player Anton del Rosario will share how he got his son to embrace an active lifestyle and love sports. Entrepreneur and stylist Car Arambulo-Antonio will speak on how she helped her children learn to socialize with their peers, and tidbits on how to stimulate their creativity and confidence.

Parentology+ recreates a typical home and its rooms. The space will consist of three stations touching on three important topics: Food, Physical Activity and Socialization - fill you day with ways you can stay lean at the Foodie station and make sure to get that drool-worthy photo, jump into a ball pit at the Play station and play on a giant piano at the Social station and so much more! Each station will ne decked out to be instagram-worthy for those who want to share their family bonding moments on social media so make sure to check it out!

To up the ante, a special keepsakes and lots of freebies will be given to the participants. And for added excitement, Nestle NANKID will be giving away Instax SQ10 cameras to two lucky attendees in each run!

Parentology+ kicks off starting February 3 to 4 at the Activity Center in Trinoma Mall, which starts the Metro Manila run. To reach more parents, it will be followed by events in:

•SM City Clark on February 10-11
•Abreeza Davao on March 3-4, and
•SM City Cebu on March 17-18.
