GREEN POST: Tips and Tricks to Save Money and Mother Earth!

Hey hey hey! This is my first post for my newest "parent category" as wordpress said it, my GREEN post! It's all about saving Earth and saving our pockets and wallets by recycling, reusing, reducing, money-wise and being smart! Cool huh?

One reason I love Pinterest are educational posts like these and I felt like gotta share 'em! Some of the things I like are the shower head magic using vinegar, the soda pop hanger, nail polished keys, car lights cleaner and more! Seriously, this is fun and FUN and GREEN! :)

Socialites Driving School - Enrollment

Clouds like cotton candies, sun pouring rays on everything, birds racing beside me and I flipping the aeroplane wings around and around and one more

- that is how I depict myself driving!
*press pause button here*
Okay that was me daydreaming .. I told the tale of how I love to swim the sky and still wish I could make that dream come true. Back to reality, I really don't have interest on driving, I never thought of myself driving my own car someday. You know the daydreaming of house and lot with pool and a new drive? I'm good even without the drive. But, work and repeated circumstances pushed me to learn how to. A year ago, my brother, Maia (short term for Jeremiah) and I went to LTO and got our new student driver license, and guess what? A month or so ago, my brother became a professional driver! Me? A minute on Mr.Egg's (my hubby drives a purplish Honda Civic I called Mr.Eg short for Mr. Eggplant *winks) driver's seat and my knees gave in! I literally am shaking!

Then, recently, when we have to go to some place other than home, I always wished a could drive, I envy my brother "stealing" Mr.Egg at night and go some where he likes! It is hard to commute because I'm carrying a baby, a babybag, my bag, and sometimes blueprints and documents + food take outs! Can you imagine the struggle? And there are times that Mr.Eg and her (all vehicles are female! Because they can carry humans inside them, okay? :)) sister Grace (our newest bought van) is just waiting in the garage but we are commuting because no drivers are available, a meeting is set and it can't postpone. :(

My sister, Beth (I only have a brother and a sister) is persistent of telling me to go try enroll on a driving school, I just couldn't do it by myself and so she decided to tag along (but really, she loves to learn too! Like she really is determined to do it!) She said she's been eyeing a driving booth on a mall and ask several questions about driving on them, and so, on one fateful day, Beth, mom, babe and I approached this tiny little booth under the escalator of the ground floor of Market! Market!

Ask about driving. Like can we enroll even if we know zero about driving? The lady said yes, and that's the main reason they're here - to help rookies, newbies whatever you call them learn how to drive. The shortest most cheapest is the 5-hour drive for Php2,200.00.

We closed-eyes signed up for it! (Okay, not really shut eyes but you get it...) We even ask the lady if we could have a discount since we both are signing up and she did! We only paid Php4,000.00 for our classes together! Yay!
I guessed these Banapple treats from hubby made me courageous that day!

Havaianas Pays it Forward with Design a Smile 2 for the Benefit of Operation Smile

Helping others (especially children in need) while having fun (or better yet, winning prizes) is a win-win a win-win challenge I would always love to join, be part with and participate! And after knowing that Operation Smile (a non-profit group) and Havaianas are having their second launch of project called Design A Smile (DAS) that will help out give free surgery on kids with cleft palates, I'm more than willing to join!

DAS is a series of one-day contests for 5-12 year old kids inviting them to answer the question  "What will you do to make other people smile?" through a drawing. The winning entry will be made into an actual pair of flip flops and proceeds from the sale will fund surgeries.

When was the last time you made someone else smile? That is the question Havaianas asks you as it launches the Havaianas Design a Smile 2, a flip-flops design contest for the benefit of Operation Smile Philippines.
First launched in 2010, Havaianas Design a Smile gives children the chance to show their artistic talents by designing the next Havaianas Smile pair – a special design which will be produced into an actual Havaianas pair. A percentage of the sales will be donated to Operation Smile Philippines, a non-profit organization which provides life-changing surgeries to children with cleft lips and cleft palates. The initial run generated more than 2,000 entries and raised more than PHP 100,000 from donations alone during this period.
“Havaianas believes that summer is a state of mind and can be lived every day of the year whenever you adopt a happy and carefree attitude,“ shares Anne Gonzalez, Managing Director of Havaianas Philippines. “And nowhere else is that more evident than in children. With Havaianas Design a Smile, we hope to generate funds and awareness to support Operation Smile in our shared mission to spread smiles all over the world.”
This November to January, Havaianas Design a Smile 2 is back as the world celebrates Smile Month, with the theme “Paying it Forward: Kids Helping Kids.” Beginning October 22ndNovember 23rd, artistically inclined kids, tweens, and teens enrolled in kinder, grade school, and high school age 5 to 12 years old can join Havaianas Design a Smile by submitting their designs illustrating their answer to the question “What will you do to make other people smile?” at participating All Flip-Flops branches and partner schools nationwide up to November 30 partner events nationwide. Winners will receive exciting prizes from Havaianas, bobble, Pininho, Hobbes and Landes, McDonald’s, and Sony. The grand prize winner will also have his or her design produced as part of the Havaianas 2014 Collection as the Havaianas Smile pair, with a percentage of the sales from which will help fund the operations of Operation Smile.
“The response from our initial run was overwhelming,” says Ammiel de Leon, Group Director, “this year, we hope to enrich our partnership with Operation Smile even more and involve more people all over the Philippines in Havaianas and Operation Smile’s advocacy to give children their smiles.”

I don't use cream liners and I wanna venture on one so I bought this

Belle de Jour Power Planner 2013 + BDJ Beauty Box!

When I was in highschool, I used to dream about beautifully illustrated planner, colorful, vibrant and sophisticated-looking. I once discovered a girly planner from Candy once and that inspired me to jot down more, diary my skits and trips and more, but unfortunately I didn't sustain it because I never got the chance to have another of that Candy planner, not really sure if they stopped creating one or I'm just too late to grab one... Then, one night, my sister told me to scan her junk mails and help her delete spams and saw my cousin's email about Belle de Jour. She is offering my sister a BDJ Planner, I called my cousin about it and she said the BDJ Planner she was offering was a year ago, it was BDJ Planner 2010 and she is not selling anymore, but she happily told me that every October, BDJ is launching their next year planner always with a bang! :) After that conversation, the rest was history! I'm a BDJ girl since!

And so, my first ever Belle de Jour Planner was the BDJ 2011 I got from the McKinley Hill event, then,  BDJ power planner 2012 that I got from Take Flight: Launch of Belle de Jour Eastwood event and the latest and my third BDJ planner that I got from BDJ Fair: Limitless held at the Music Hall, Mall of Asia.

Like always, it comes with a BDJ Lifestyle Card, the key for additional promos from their brand sponsors and BDJ events like BDJ Passion Series and BDJ Rendezvous! :D

It's so amazing to have everything in one, right? An awesome planner, more helpful than the ordinary boring planners 'because it comes with special pages like dream board, vacation planner, random thoughts... Financially wise you'll be thanks to the bill trackers and cash flow! I also love the new wardrobe checklist and freedom page!
