A true diver’s watch

TechnoMarine Cruise Night Vision Black Dial Men’s Watch

Watches  that can  be worn and  read underwater  are a dime a dozen,  but what makes a true  diver’s watch?

Apart  from meeting  the standards set  by the International  Organization of Standardization,  a diver’s watch has to be water  resistant up to a depth of at least  100 meters. It must also have a unidirectional  bezel with markings at least every five minutes  and a clearly distinguishable minute marking on the  watch’s face to help divers measure diving time. The dial  has to be visible in total darkness and requires a second  hand with a luminous tip or counterbalance.

A  true  diver’s  watch has  to be sturdy,  reliable, legible,  and must have the most advanced  time technology to last underwater --all of which are present  in TechnoMarine’s Cruise Night Vision.

The  TechnoMarine  timepiece combines  style with the latest  time technology to match  a diver’s dynamic and active  lifestyle. The watch is water-resistant  up to 200 meters or 660 feet. It has double  layer super luminova indexes for better reading in   deep water and its unidirectional rotating blackplated  bezel with a white rim comes handy when measuring diving  time. The watch is coated in PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition)  to give it the extra strength to withstand rigorous underwater   activity for long periods of time. By fusing quality materials and  superior engineering, the TechnoMarine’s Cruise Night Vision Black Dial  Men’s Watch is not only highly functional and versatile but also aesthetically  striking.

Get the TechnoMarine  Cruise Night Vision now  and enjoy an exciting and  worry-free diving experience.  Visit TechnoMarine stores in Greenbelt  3, Robinson’s Galleria, Robinson’s Magnolia,  Shangri-La Plaza, SM City Cebu, SM Lanang Premier  Davao, SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, SM North Edsa,  TriNoma, and Uptown Mall. The real deal on incinerators

Incinerators that use the most innovative process called pyrolysis technology break
down large molecules of waste, produce no smoke, smell or loud noises,
and reduce carbon emission from waste transfer.

Proper solid waste management in the Philippines remains a serious problem. In the midst of the alarming increase of garbage Filipinos generate resulting in garbage-filled streets, rivers, and drainage as well as insufficient over-burdened landfills, the country is still searching for an effective solution to waste problem.

In an effort to reduce and eventually obliterate the worsening effects of the overwhelming increase of garbage on health and environment, the government, Specifically the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), is looking into smart alternatives with less environmental impact.

One such alternative is the use of incinerators. An incinerator is an equipment used for burning waste materials at high temperature until it is reduced to ash.

Depending on the type and capacity of waste, there are different kinds of incinerators: rotary kiln, which are mostly used in developed countries; grate incinerators, which use waste-to-energy technology; and liquid, gases and fumes incinerators, which are used for thermal destruction of gas and fumes and are not suitable for the incineration of solid waste.

In the Philippines, Clean air Act of 1999 banned the use of incinerator because it is believed to emit poisonous and toxic fumes. However, in 2002, DENR released a clarification on the incinerator ban in the country and wrote, “Section 20 does not absolutely prohibit incineration as a mode of waste disposal, rather only those burning process which emit poisonous and toxic fumes are banned.”

Incinerators convert municipal solid waste into a useful by-product. It uses a lot of processes to minimize the risk to health and environment. The most innovative process is the use of pyrolysis technology. Pyrolysis is coined from the Greek terms pyro or fire and -lysis or separating. It is the industrial process of breaking down large molecules of waste such as agricultural residues, scraps, tires, and non-recyclable materials into smaller molecules of gas, oil and carbon black. The common by-product of pyrolysis technology is ash which can be mixed with aggregates for construction purposes.

Many incinerators now have no smoke, no smell nor loud noises. If integrated with solid waste management, incinerators can reduce carbon emission from waste transfer, reduce cost of solid waste disposal and promote zero-waste-to-landfill.

Incinerators can be used in multiple, end-to-end solutions that provide immediate solution to complete sustainable solid waste management in the country.

How to stay healthy this season

‘Tis the season to be overweight? Though it can be quite a struggle to resist temptations to overeat with all the festivities going on, you can still have a good time and get through the holiday season without expanding your waistline. Here are some ways to stay in shape and in the pink of health.

Prioritize sleep. Lack of sleep may result in not just fatigue but also poor decisions, such as going for bad food choices and cancelling workout plans. Take a 20-minute nap when you can to help clear your mind. Try to get at least seven to nine hours of sleep each night even with all the celebrations you may have to attend.

Hydrate. Try drinking at least two glasses of water before each holiday meal to avoid overeating. Carry a reusable water bottle with you and refill it often throughout the day. Keep in mind that alcohol dehydrates the body, so if you are having a few alcoholic drinks, have some water in between.

Exercise when you can. Make small changes to your daily routine, like parking your car a comfortable distance from your destination or taking the stairs instead of the elevator, to burn the excess calories from all those holiday goodies.

Take a breather. Running errands and attending holiday parties and family gatherings can be quite stressful. Do your best to limit your stress, whether it is by slowing down or saying no to some invitations. If you are hosting lunch or dinner at home, delegate the tasks.

Give yourself the gift of health protection. Set your health goals early and live them ASAP. Go the extra mile for your well-being with health insurance, like AXA Philippines’ Global Health Access. This health plan provides coverage of up to P100 million and world-class medical service in the Philippines or abroad. This comprehensive worldwide health solution takes care of your medical needs by giving you access to the very best health options available, because you deserve no less.

Reshape your mindset, reshape the future

Raise future-ready kids in this ever-evolving world

Failure is life's greatest teacher but few parents want their children to experience its pains. In today's increasingly complex world, raising children can be a challenge for parents, most of who would not want to see their children difficulties.

Massive technological changes, changing worldviews, and constant disruptions have made the world much more complex, but these have also created ample opportunities for learning and growth. Amidst uncertainties and continous change, parents have to ensure that their children learn and grow from the challenges that they will inevitably encounter in their growing-up years. By developing an optimal growth mindset and adapting an optimal diet and lifestyle, parents can help set their kids up for the future.

Recognizing that parents need support in reshaping the future of their children, Nestle NANKID utilizes expertise with advocacy, to help reshape the future for the next generation, with Parentology+.

Achieving an optimal growth mindset begins with optimal nutrition. And this year, Nestle NANKID is giving parents the opportunity to be able to foster a holistic and continual growth of a child in all aspects - emotional, nutritional, physical, physiological, and social development, through Parentology+: The Reshape Effect Forum.

The forum, held last January 15 at Whitespace Makati, aimed to help parents better understand their role in reshaping the future of their children. Hosted by the Philippines' premier talk show host, Boy Abunda, the event was joined by well-known parenting experts from the international and local scenes.

Among them were Melissa Benaroya, LISCW, a renowned parent, coach, and speaker from Costa Rica whose extensively studied the Growth Mindset movement. In addition, Melissa aims to be able to share unique strategies on raising children; Didi Manahan, MSEd, a progressive learning advocate and co-founder of Keys School Manila, where she serves as head directress, and Dr. Josephine Sunga, MD, FPPS, MSc, pediatrician and epidemiologist who champions nutrition as a key ingredient toward children's optimal development through her research.

Parents and guests of the forum were also able to participate in activities that allowed them to learn practical tips and lessons on how they can nurture an optimal growth mindset within themselves and their families, thereby creating an environment that will nurture their child's minds and hearts.

Some of the activities were "Reshaping Your Language", where participants learned that adults have the power over how our language can affect kids. Phrasing statements to curiosity questions can help the kids get a feeling of being included in the decision-making.

In "As Easy As Riding A Bike", guests were asked to reminisce their first time riding a bike, and its process. Melissa retells the story, but instead of biking, she likens the experience to parenting - the joy of seeing others' kids, the challenge once you've had your own child, the constant toil of new developments, the parental instinct imbined in you once you've experienced it after a long time.

Nutrition plays a vital role in the development of a child. Without providing proper action, a child's diet may greatly affect his or her overall growth. However, despite the potential health risks children may face due to the environment or because of genetics, there are ways parents can prevent these from happening and help ensure their children are not restricted to achieve their full potential for the futute.

"Nestle understands that children and their parents face a complex reality, which is why parents should have the tools that will help them pave the way toward their children's optimal growth and development. Nestle NANKID provides the optimal nutrition which is essential to growing children's needs. Coupled with supportive care from parents who allow their children to learn from every opportunity, Nestle aims to let parents reshape the future, today. " said Ms. Jean Espino, Vice President for Marketing, Nestle Premium Milks.

Furthering the Optimal Growth Movement

With its aim to promote the Growth Mindset movement, and how this can be applied in school, Nestle NANKID also worked with SMILE Group (Specializing in Modern Interactive Learning Experiences), an advocate of STEM and STEAM Methodology committed to help Filipino children develop a growth mindset and 21st century skills, to host a learning symposium entitled "Childproof Teaching: Applying the Growth Mindset in School" with Melissa Benaroya, LICSW, held in Miriam College on the 16th of January; where she imparted hee knowledge of child development, empathy, and 21st century skills among students and children that can prepare them for life's hardships. The event was attended by educators from the Philippines' progressive schools.

Indeed, embracing challenges and opening up possibilities are child's greatest teacher, and with an optimal growth mindset, backed by optimal nutrition, parents can help reshape their children's future so they can become the best version of themselves.

Don't miss the opportunity to learn how to foster optimal development through optimal nutrition and an optimal growth mindset. Help #ReShapeTheFuture today. Check out Parentology+ at Trinoma Mall on February 2 and 3. Visit www.facebook.com/NANKIDOPTIPRO for more details.
